Is this necessary? Is there something funny about the way northern people speak?
You're right, I will edit

I don't particularly like the woman, but I thought Margaret Hodge spoke well on Today this morning. A couple of year's ago there were 4 Jewish women Labour MPs and now she's the only one.

When him and his party spend the next 5 years ignoring them and breaking their promises. Which they will, because it is their nature. Labour just need the right leader to be waiting in the wings to scoop them up, someone relatable, who focusses on the 2/3 headline policies most hurting them. The manifesto is sound but appeared to promise too much to skeptics.

A Jewish, female, left-leaning, under-30 Labour candidate won Warrington North despite being publicly attacked and defamed by the utterly vile Rachel Riley

Also this, I know Corbyn didn't want to play the I'm not an anti-semite/terrorist sympathiser game because of course he's not, but it's the game we HAVE to play. The next leader will need to appear contrite and hack any anti-semitism out.
Keep the 4-day week stuff to yourself until all the other more pressing issues are off the table. I applaud their vision for the future but most voters just want to know what they're going to do for them in the next year or so, get in power then start rolling out the free train travel and nationalised internet cafes.

Johnson speech:
He says, after five weeks of electioneering, this country deserves a break from politics.
He wants people to be able to go about their business knowing that work is being stepped up in government to deliver growth.
eg Hoping everyone will look away while they reform a load of electorial and constitutional rules to give themselves unfettered power, minimal scrutiny and make it harder for anyone else to get elected.

The whole thing is so utterly depressing. If anyone needs me ill be making a frivolous bicycle purchase to distract myself
-

I always think of it this way - bicycles will be super useful to have after the apocalypse anyway, so really, you're just investing in your future.

I had to point out to Dad that the 'photo of boy on floor is fake' was fake.
It wasn't fake, but well done for spreading some misinformation.
-

He's saying the statement that it's fake is itself fake.

'Credible Labour leader' is just code for 'a Labour leader who can actually lead'.

Didn’t they remove the paywall from their election stories? Or did I imagine that?
-

Doesn't look that way for me. Unless I use Google News I can't see the article. FT asks me to subscribe.

SNP. Arguably.
Yeah, although they’re nationalists. That’s somewhere labour can’t really go.
The Lib Dem’s didn’t actually do as badly as I thought. They broke even.

So people just don't care that a party is more than its leader?
Not that this helps the Conservatives though, Javid, Patel, IDS, Gove, JRM, CHunt... all involved in actual scandals and saying horrible or incredibly dumb things.
But hey at least Boris is good at hiding the hands up his sockpuppet ass.

I get people are saying that JC was the reason they didn't vote labour, but think if that was anyone they wouldn't have voted for labour. The dislike is manufactured by the media - any Labour leader will face the same thing. It would make sense to pick a leader as late as possible to minimise the time the press can put the boot in.

And appearing to be unified behind the leader would be good too.
