What camera do I buy? / general gear talk

I'm very happy with them, I have two of the standard straps and one of the wrist ones (which I very rarely use).

For my X-Pro 2 I've had a look around and there are a number on the Wex website for £649, all of which have faults - lost paint, chips, wear. Mine doesn't, it's in great condition - would polish up to look new. So, with the grip, I'd like £649 for mine, collection in London.

Why are you getting a 3? The hidden screen would put me off.

Single pivot tho, so only good for low angle. Also, I really don't understand the hidden aspect:
Don't like screens? - Don't buy this camera.
Don't want to be tempted to look at it but still need it once in awhile? - Don't buy this camera, buy one that allows you to turn the screen off. Oh, they all do?

The screen part is possibly a bit gimmicky, I grant you. I do however really like the faux-film box end.

I also like the idea of the incremental improvements, as they were meaningful from 1 to 2.

There are some new instant cameras and films from Fujifilm.

point and shoot polaroid alternatives don't feel to me like a "meaningful alternative" to the digital process we're discussing.

There are some new products. By far the biggest selling are the instant cameras. I think they’re actually the fastest selling cameras globally.

My questions came off the back of a brief discussion about the x-pro3, and why it was mimicking a film camera, with its film display and hidden led screen.

PX’d it, chap in Park asked had I ever used it.

Also: I am excite, paid for the Dura Silver X-Pro 3, I have camera four of the ten that Park have coming in early December.

So, of course that hasn't been any meaningful developments in (35, 120, large format) film tech for a while now. The last was probably Vision 3 in 2007 and the revisions to Portra using the same tech in 2010.

Asking about tech kinda misses the point in why people shoot film. It's a meaningful alternative for me because I enjoy the faff - using a 60 year old camera, using the film itself, cycling over to Palm to pick up/drop off stuff (and end up chatting to Steve for a while every time as he's a really nice guy) etc

Also, and more subjective, I prefer the photos I get back from film compared to digital. I realise that for most film is also digital as you're relying on scans, but for me enough of the character of the film is kept in the scan to make it worthwhile.

Just ordered the Fuji X-H1 with grip and 16-55 2.8. Nice addition to the X-T2 and the existing lenses I got I reckon. Picking it up next week, can't wait.

Let us know how you find the 16-55. I find it too big on an X-T20, with no real benefit over the 18-55/2.8-4. And without OIS, which I need on the X-T20.

I’ve tried the 16-55 on an XT3 . It matches quite well but I reckon the XH1 will be a better match. The need for ois really depends on your type of photography and conditions as well.

I’ve got 3 primes which are all without ois so I’m keen to see what added value the XH 1 body can bring to the table. I’m hoping for some improved low light performance.

Main reason to get another body is my upcoming trip to Kenya and I’m not keen on swapping lenses too often out in the field. Super discount on the XH1 definitely helped.

I bought the XT-2 body of Gillies and just ordered a second hand 18-55 from Park, be interested to use the two together after using an Xpro-1 and 2 for years with various primes (and ending up keeping the F1.4 23mm on 99% of the time after I bought it).

Does anyone know of a camera strap that works for cycling? Over should with a secondary strip under your arm to stop the camera swinging round, like this;
