Pre -internet in the late 80's, teenage me obtained a mail order VHS copy of Akira and was well impressed. I remember excitedly ripping open the posties next Manga VHS delivery, and sitting down in the family living room with my Gran to watch it. She hadn't seen Akira and I thought she would be bored and just ignore it and continue knitting.
I don't ever recall having read any reviews, and think I just bought the next available Manga I could find via some magazine, and just thought it would be along the same lines. As it turns out, Legend of the Overfiend is not like Akira at all. https://imgflip.com/i/3j4rat
Proper awks silence and some batshit fast knitting ensued. CSB/
