  • It'll just about clear a 25, I think.

Unlikely to be for sale though!

  • Unlikely to be for sale though!

I can understand that, enjoy it!

Still good to know what the clearance is like in case I ever come across one on sale somewhere, cheers :)

  • it comes drilled from the factory

Came, rather than comes. They stopped making T3s about 7 years ago 🙂

  • good to know what the clearance is like

As umop says, 25* will go in, but there isn't space for much more. They can be a little tight for rim clearance with these new-fangled wheels which bulge out inboard of the beads, so best to use a flat disc in the back, which is apparently the aero choice too. The fork is just the normal FK26 off of the pre-2013 P3 so there's no problem up front.

*That's 25mm real size, not "25" in tyre makers units which could be anything up to 30mm wide depending on which tyre and rim.

  • Thanks, good to know! More or less what I expected (or actually more generous than I'd have expected), and yeah, modern bulging aero rims can cause unexpected difficulties, I've had that before. In my experience, this then translates to getting an 'oldschool' rim, 25mm exterior max, without any bulge, and mounting a 700x23c tyre that comes to ~25mm when installed.

  • the bars will be up for sale again soon if you want to reunite the family...

  • "The use of a rear red light in all CTT events is now compulsory in all CTT events."

  • "The only audio equipment (to include earphones, speakers, mobile phone) you can use while
competing in a CTT event is a prescribed hearing aid. If you are in breach of this regulation, it is
highly likely you will be disqualified from the event."

Regulation 19(a) – Awareness of Surroundings
Delete the existing sub-paragraph 19(a) and replace with:
“Competitors must not use ANY audio equipment except prescribed hearing aids.”
A footnote will be added to this regulation as follows:
NB A competitor in breach of this regulation shall be disqualified.
NB Competitors must not use a mobile phone while mounted on their machines.

  • No more tunes! Fuck, not sure if I wanna race any 12hrs now.

  • The use of a rear red light in all CTT events is now compulsory

That's not what the regulation actually says. There will be a guidance note in which the morons of the CTT board will tell organisers how to implement mandatory rear lights, which I'm absolutely certain will be fundamentally in conflict with the text of the regulation which they moronically allowed to be debated and which the AGM even more moronically voted for.

  • What does it say? Actually, I'm not that bothered, I normally run a light. But the no phone thing sucks. How am I supposed to call up and tell them I've dropped my bottle in the 3rd layby to the east and could they please stop handing me up yellow jelly snakes?

  • I'm not that bothered, I normally run a light

I'm guessing that was the mood in the room at the AGM. Quite why they felt the need to force lights on the 1% of testers not already using them remains a mystery...

  • Now it's compulsory I'm bound to forget my light, or not charge it....

  • What’s the lightest possible rear light...?

  • lightest possible rear light...?

Not likely to be the winner, but a Moon Crescent on the RB-20 mount is only 33g

  • I’ve always used the Giant Numen one which is great if you’ve got an aero post and pretty light

  • Knog Blinder Mini Chippy 18g according to Knog

  • Cateye Wearable mini 12g :) comes with rubber loop to attach to seatpost cr2032 battery

    https://www.cateye.com/intl/products/safety_lights/SL-WA10/

  • 12g

It's not clear whether that includes the rubber band. Probably moot as the true weight-weenie will superglue it to the bike after clipping off the clip-on bracket 🙂

  • I will up the ante and if cutting down to glue on, and offsetting the extra weight loss but addition of glue would balance the weight back to 12g (that must be minimum weight)

But gluing to the post and losing the rubber band would have better airflow so more aero so faster :)

  • that must be minimum weight

I bet you could get the Cateye down to <10g including glue without starting to cut into the optical element, but since the emitter is red and the lens isn't doing much, you could bin the cover too. There's a magnet in there which isn't doing anything once you commit to glue. Switching from a CR2032 to a CR2012 saves 1.7g at the expense of run time, but it should still be about 100h and without even having to modify the battery terminals.

While the main part of the season seems to be a pissing contest between 4Fourth and Exposure to see who can blind the most drivers, when hill climb time comes around again the contest is going to be passing light inspection at under 5g

  • Might just solder an a LED to a coin cell.

    I know. I won’t do that.

  • What is the light falls off...?

  • Doesn't matter, as long as it's on as you start.

  • One of those button cell, single LED ones? I could weigh it but I don't think my scales go that low (and my druggie, I mean coffee, scales broke)
