how close/narrow can I get and how can I judge before drilling?
I'd drill and attach one hook at a time. Hang the first bike, then hold the second one up to get an idea. And so on...
Then gradually replace all the bikes and realise nothing fits anymore
It's why I made mine adjustable. Only trouble is I've simply run out of room in the shed for any more bikes now :'(
good approach, I will go in with 3 bikes with rotated bars at the back then the rest, I need to consolidate one bike, MTB stays obvs :)
