Some more Kiwi hill climb goodness.
KE25 Corolla was my fave thing out today.
Fiat Strada (Rialto?) ended up on its roof on the last run sadly

Technical question: I've got paddles in the Subaru... FUCKING PADDLES!!!
How do they work on a CVT transmission? What sorcery is this? It's weird not hearing the car changing up the gears... So smooth, still loving it, took it on the motorway today and was very impressed with how quiet and comfortable the ride was...

yeah, you can drive it like a "manual" and use for engine braking...adds a wee bit of windy road fun, but mostly you're going to leave it in drive

Presumably it’s a stepped CVT, so it’s got logical gears as opposed to physical ones- literally 5/6 positions on the two cones that equate to fixed ratios that it selects as you pull on the paddles?
Early testing of CVT’s showed that people really didn’t like engine revs staying constant and road speed changing, so they made them perform in a similar fashion to a conventional gearbox thereafter.

Bailcast split boots.
-
• #51794
Thankfully the new boot is only £10 and looks an easy enough job. Of course any job that requires crawling under the car has to be done in Dec not July.

saw this for sale by a dealer near me (Guildford) the other day. may interest some of you.. unsure on mileage

Really? I've only replaced CV joint boots a couple of times, and it was a total PITA.

I watched a video on YouTube and seemed fairly straight forward... Get ready to say I told you so :)

Ah shit. Fiat Strada/Ritmo. Like the one Furious T spotted in the wild recently.
Hill Climbs look mad fun. Saw one in Guernsey last year. going to keep an eye out for them over here next year

Well, have fun taking the driveshafts out if you're doing the job properly!

Yeah, right, I watched the replace your Volvo headlight in two minutes (with Swedish commentary). They failed to mention the need for special socket extensions and really tiny hands. Two hours and less skin on knuckles later....
If you fancy selling them give us a shout.
