  • Couldn't you just leave it on auto? No need to hunt around at all then...

  • Hate to be the tribal anti-car due in this thread, but this is cunty.

  • Just replace the LED? I’m sure you can buy a replacement from RS if you spec it right

In fact I’m sure I bought a kit to do one in my old car online

Yes, but then something doesn't work. I want everything to work.

Also, I would put this in the category of "important controls related to safety".

Me Julie is in the middle of disassembling a spare one of these switches that I happened to have at the moment - she's been working for around an hour now and hasn't made visible progress for much of that. The units are an absolute bastard to take apart.

  • they are reasonably brisk

  • I'd wrap it 'round a tree... Which is traditional in these parts...

  • Get an e90/91, but make sure it has 6 and not 4 ;)

I'm loving mine (the money shot from the trip to ML last week)

  • You're absolutely right, I should totally get one but I'm scared it'll shit itself and I'll be stuck with a very expensive albatross... Gonna play safe, plenty of opportunity to be silly with car #2... I think I need another car, don't you?

  • I can’t see any reason for some LED’s to have blown/stopped and others to still be working.

Something peculiar potentially going on here?

  • I don't think they're any more or less likely to shit themselves than your average econobox. Get a good one and maintain it, and it should be as reliable as the next car.

They're a fairly common car, not a performance car

  • spot on dude. pair of twats. but that whole scene is.

  • DDR. My endz bruv. 😎

  • In other news, my car was the best in test as judged by the suspension expert (Chris of Centre Gravity) in this months 911 and Porsche World.

Don't sprain your finger copying and pasting this into the Golf thread chaps.

  • Real shame you're not in Sydney. I have a 96 corolla auto just sitting here doing nothing. Still has 6 months Rego... Be perfect to use until you found the right car.

  • If i actually managed to save enough money to restore it does anyone have an educated idea of how long i'd realistically have left to enjoy my 92 Saab T16S on the roads?

I'm really not engaged in the car world these days but everything i read sounds like we're heading to hybrid/electric or new ultra low emissions only sooner rather than later.

Pisses me off as this is the newest car i've owned but that won't mean didly when it fails its next emissions test.

  • Did anyone suggest a Mazda 6? I know, not fun but the GH series (2008) are a very good car - can't imagine one giving you trouble.
Crazy low kays and over budget but looks well maintained:

  • Selling a set of very clean 17" alloys (from Toyota Avensis 5x100 7Jx17 ET45). Centre bore just a tad too tight to fit the spec B. Might get them machined if nobody wants them.

  • I can get a 2013 Mazda6 Touring (leather plus all the extras!!) for $10k, I'll just need to spend an extra $2k to get rid of a couple of dents and scrapes...

I should just buy it, it's very luxurious in a mid-market kinda way... Too luxurious for me anyway...

  • I've fallen a bit in love with this 2014 Astina SP25, this is at the auctions so probably an ex-drug dealer's car... Tempted to get a loan for the final $5k on this... Only 50,000kms but $18,590... 🥰🤔

This is basically the baby brother of the 6, both 2.5l and leather and other nice bits...

  • You do know that lower emissions is a good thing? How long you've got left is anyone's guess, but legislation normally significantly affects new cars a long time before those already in the field. On the other hand restrictions like ULEZ may affect you faster, depending on where you live. I've had the same thoughts as you though and consider my current car to be my last petrol engined 'performance' one.

  • Just do it anyway. A T16S has always been on my list of "Cars to Own" and they'll be a rare thing nowadays. Enjoy it whilst you've got it.

  • ricerstreetgothaf.

    do it.
