  • Nope.
Because of the scoring? Or something else?

  • Yeah scoring - Can’t see how Ryder didn’t win but judges scored it 117-111?!?

  • Pal of mine who's into boxing was absolutely flabbergasted suggesting Ryder seemed the winner

  • Not seen the fight but I've long thought boxing scoring is pretty flawed.
Statistically you can win the majority of a fight but loose by a wide margin.
    Seems a pretty major flaw.

  • I think this shows how bad the heavyweight scene is right now;

Public workout for the weekend's fight.

  • Ruiz hand speed looks good, not sure how much of that is due to his shorter reach.
I’m tempted to put a few quid on Ruiz.
Although I can’t recall any big upsets going the same way in the rematch..?

  • I've got my money on Ruiz to win again.

  • Ooohhh. Dare I ask how much? As long as it doesn’t break your code/ jinx/ strategy?
Also why? Odds or style or something else?

  • £50 at just over 2 to 1 I think it was. Reason is he didn't beat him with a lucky punch, rather a battering over several rounds and made him quit. I think he'll do it again.

Don't get me wrong. Either can knock out the other, I just think Ruiz is the better fighter.

  • Can't disagree with that and whilst I expect Joshua to find a way to beat Ruiz the magnitude of the 'shock' last time was mainly due to media (and thus fan) ignorance. In hindsight there was evidence of Ruiz' threats and AJs vulnerability.

  • AJ inside 6 rounds.

  • They're both a bit crap as far as heavyweight world champs go.

  • Just rewatched the first fight and looked back at my comments in the thread.

I’ll pick Ruiz. Undecided if I have enough conviction in this to put a bet on

  • This short documentary on the first fight, featuring Mike Tyson, Stallone and others is pretty decent - https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000cr3c/one-night-joshua-vs-ruiz

  • Tyson was... animated. Just loves boxing I guess.
    Hope Ruiz for the win.

  • Ruiz weighs in at over 20st. and Joshua just under 17. No way Ruiz will last 12 rounds at that weight, so he's either planning to slug it out for an early knockout, or he's got his money and doesn't give a fuck.

  • Thanks for linking that. A couple of things that I didn't notice so much from watching it first time - how durable Ruiz is, not just from the knock-down but other big shots, particularly the right just after the knock down; and how dependent Joshua was/is on McCracken for any kind of explanation of what's going on and what he should do.

Nice to see Gerry Cooney looking so clear and dapper

  • Probably both

  • Weights in his pockets, he's coming in at 15% body fat really

  • I actually can't help but think he's fucked it

  • Maybe he's been enjoying the good life a bit much. He was fully clothed and wearing a sombrero mind.

  • Isn’t this pretty much what everyone was saying last time!?

  • Great watch. Tyson and Holyfield's explanations of what happens to you when you catch a shot where Ruiz caught Joshua in round 3 are superb.

  • Any streams?
