There's a lot to be said for getting a cheap in between car. I used to do this when I had more time, to buy myself time to choose the right thing & to save on losing out through part exchange. Always seemed more enjoyable searching for a sub £1000 car, loads about, less pressure to find the perfect vehicle and knowing that what you bought would basically have zero depreciation. Also fun to try something different. Had £60 Escort, £100 Fiesta, £400 Punto, £800 Puma and a bunch of others I can't remember now.
This. I long for the days when I could buy something at sub £1k and use it with no pressure or worries. It's something that I always too for granted. Anything at that kind of price range in Canada is a deathtrap/absolutely rotten or (usually) both.
