A golf is the answer to most motoring questions. Drive well enough, practical enough, reliable enough. All the car most people would ever need.
Also, you may be tempted by the "TS" models - these are turbo+supercharged. Possible complications on higher mileage cars as there's a lot of complication on the little engine.
So now maybe I want a Golf... Ugh...
The guy who hit us is (allegedly) gonna send me US$3k (AU$4.4) tomorrow, the assessors are awarding us AU$4k as a write-off... I've found three year old sub50k kms Golfs for around twelve grand... I'm happy to cover the difference... Good deal or daft idea?
I'm really enjoying driving a car with all the mod cons... If all goes well we'll be getting eight and a half grand for a free car that I can top up with a few more bucks and we can get something really nice and quite new... Decisions, decisions...
As much as I'd love an estate, I'm enjoying the compact/hatchback size... Any bigger might be more difficult to park and other cons I haven't thought of...
