  • Genuine? Those shape tips look a little AliExpress.

  • Akraprovic by AliExpress lol

  • Plentiful.

  • Wow, i stand corrected.

I'd hope whoever had the dosh to drop on a new m3 didn't resort to AliExpress for exhaust tips.

  • I doubt it. But Akrapovic carbon tips are all slip on and the RRP is around £600 for two, which might send some down that route..

  • Weave looks legit on bimmer. Knock-offs look wrapped.

  • I just picked the first picture I could find, but the 'replicas' tend to be real carbon just the same as unbranded bike frames. The bimmer one no doubt is genuine. £5k or something for the whole system? It's £2k even for my Abarth 595.

  • So now maybe I want a Golf... Ugh...

The guy who hit us is (allegedly) gonna send me US$3k (AU$4.4) tomorrow, the assessors are awarding us AU$4k as a write-off... I've found three year old sub50k kms Golfs for around twelve grand... I'm happy to cover the difference... Good deal or daft idea?

I'm really enjoying driving a car with all the mod cons... If all goes well we'll be getting eight and a half grand for a free car that I can top up with a few more bucks and we can get something really nice and quite new... Decisions, decisions...

As much as I'd love an estate, I'm enjoying the compact/hatchback size... Any bigger might be more difficult to park and other cons I haven't thought of...

  • TS How long has it taken you to feel comfortable driving, I passed my test when i was 18 haven't driven since but think if I come back to the UK I'll have to drive, it scares me a bit.

  • A golf is the answer to most motoring questions. Drive well enough, practical enough, reliable enough. All the car most people would ever need.

Also, you may be tempted by the "TS" models - these are turbo+supercharged. Possible complications on higher mileage cars as there's a lot of complication on the little engine.

  • You know what? I think it's only been in the last couple of months that I feel rely comfortable behind the wheel... I drive over 300kms a week so I should be used to it by now...

  • That last one is great! My mate at work knows a big local dealer, her dad is his best mate and is like an uncle to her... He's gonna sort me out, reckons he can get me something very good for $10k... Let's see how we go...

  • Yeah, you're spoiled for choice at the 10k mark. If you manage to get a real deal, like trade value/wholesale plus a bit of cash you'll get a good car. Still - check things over, even if it is "mates". Good luck!

  • I don't mean to be nosy, but why are both the insurance company AND the other party in the accident giving you 4k?

I thought it would be one or the other depending on whether or not you were going through insurance, or off record?

  • Passed my test around the same time (think I was 17), got my first car a few months before my 30th. Booked a 2 hour refresher lesson with an instructor. The only trouble I really had was fine clutch control when taking off (didn't help that the instructor had a diesel), but that sorted itself out after a few weeks.

  • Much too complicated to explain here...

  • C55 dropped off for its MOT. I reckon front discs and pads, let’s see.

  • Full body off restoration and 1200bhp engine rebuild it is then...

  • How regularly do you drive now I think I'll need to have at least 4 or more refresher lessons and maybe that advanced one where you do motorway stuff. Good to know it comes back though

  • 80 miles a day, 5 days a week. So a bit more than average!

Most of that is a dual carriageway that's effectively a motorway, with 15 minutes of B-roads to begin/end with depending on the direction I'm commuting.

Motorway driving is as easy as it gets! If you're happy with stop/start traffic and parking, you've got the hardest bit down.

  • Don't be jealous but I got a new car today...

  • On that note, does anyone know of any Renault specialists?

We knew from the ad that the passenger window didn't work, but only found out when we got home that the passenger door doesn't lock either... the seller seemed genuine but we haven't mentioned it to him yet.

Lots of people on forums with lots of different solutions but we'd like to try and get a quote.

  • Today's favourite is a Subaru Outback... I think that will fulfil all our needs...

Met the car guy today, such a fucking wide boy... Good to know he's on my team... I tell him what I want and he goes off to the auction and finds it for me!

  • General question - what happens if you over fill the oil on a regular boring petrol car? Fiery death?
