  • Character building!

  • It was brilliant last year despite rain for the whole thing. This year looks dry but chilly, so it should be a blast. Entry includes a crack-of-dawn jacket potato and beans at a scouts hut in Poole, in case that helps swing things.

  • Forecast doesn't look so bad from here.

It's better than ECE 200k overnight to a 100k event (which is what I was toying with doing on the 23rd/24th of November)

And I got the confirmation email, and managed to get train tickets with bike bookings. Roll on!

  • @bjf will you be riding your fixed gear again this time? I think I'll ride mine as it's my only bike with dyno and mudguards at the moment and the elevation doesn't look crazy.

@tomasito what bike will you be on?

  • I'm riding a bright yellow Whyte Wessex One.

I also live one mile from the finish, so feel free to make use of my shower / kettle afterwards

  • The one with bullhorns?

  • Yeah, fixed as normal. This should be easier than the devil I did fixed last weekend. I'll either be on my fixed/TT Corrado or a Genesis day one depending on the weather.

The lad I'm coming up with should be on fixed as well

  • It's got some stacked up aerobars, but not bullhorns

  • Cool, I'll see you guys there :-)

I'll be on a dirtier version of this:

  • My first Audax as an organiser has just gone up. It is a hilly 200 from Aberdeen in April.

A bit far for most users of LFGSS, but for anyone wanting to take in some classic Scottish roads in the Cairngorms, it might be worth a trip.

  • South Bucks Winter Warmer on Dec 7th, anyone riding? Just entered

  • got a gpx for that yet?

  • I haven’t looked, I don’t think there’s one though

  • That pic! Congratulations on organising your first.

  • I’ve signed up, will hopefully be there on a blue fixed gear Gios. It’s my first one, looking forward to it!

  • Moonrakers & sunseekers was a blast. I was a little worried that the rain would stick around but thankfully it dried off after the first control. Breakfast in the scout hut in Poole was brilliant and the sunrise on the way out was fantastic. A headwind all the way to Lilliput was a pain there was plenty of wonderful scenery to take your mind off it, Milton abbey especially. The strawberry line from Cheddar into control 4 was fairly challenging but good fun non the less. We opted for the full value approach and aimed for 19/20 hrs and were on time and welcomed with dhal and rice at the finish. Mr Pomeroy knows how to put on a great ride. Would highly recommend.

  • Thoroughly enjoyed by me as well. It could have done with being a little hillier. The A roads and the Somerset levels are a bit tedious but I guess I'm in the minority here. Fantastic ride and good company. 15hrs well spent!

Edit: Just finished cleaning my bike, it was a state.

  • To audax or not to audax? Thats the question. Carlton colville 100km next weekend. It's a bit far to rode there and back 63 miles so the start would have to be way to early and the return way to late.

Driving to do a 100km ride that's shorter than a club run. Can I really justify that.

  • @cycleclinic Two years ago jaeyukdapbap Ruserius and I rode to the start from London overnight and took a train back. It was good fun and the audax itself was nice too. I was thinking about doing it again this year but scratched the itch of the winter overnight 300 this weekend with the Moonraker instead.

  • Anyone else doing the Festive 500?

  • Was literally just looking at the festive 500. Then I saw my belly, remembered the longest I’ve done so far are 200kms and thought the Poor Student may be a safer bet!

  • Failed my RRtY at month 11. It's tricky juggling this shit with two kids and then trying to align that with decent weather.

    Oh well.

  • How frustrating!
I’ve been considering it and I’m in a similar position.
Going to try again or leave it for awhile?

  • Will have another go I think but maybe not next year.

  • Well done for getting so far!

    Still very impressive.
