• A bit late to this thread but I had Richard Hallett build me a stainless track bike in time for the National Madison champs in 2016. I chose him because he was taught by Cliff Shrubb who made my previous frame and he's a proper engineer; we spent a lot of time going through each tube to make the bike as stiff and aero as possible.

It's mostly Reynolds high polish 953 with a Columbus tapered headtube (those 44mm would look out of place) and XCR chain stays as 953 didn't come in a taper I wanted. Forks are Alpina DF4 and the paint is by Colourtech with masked out "decals".

Components have changed a bit over time and various wheels get used but I've tried to go with a made in Britain theme so Hope headset and seatpost, Fibrelyte chainrings, Goldtech hubs and Royce BB.

I got my Cliff Shrubb in 2002 and similarly I still expect to be racing the Hallett in 10 years, it's already been crashed and dented!

  • Top marks for the made in england theme...it's be interesting to know how the steel performed in comparison to the modern aero carbons?

  • That paint job is very simple yet makes the bike really stand out against all these ti / stainless frames with black carbon forks.

Also, as per forum rules, is the Lightweight wheel available?

  • Dredge, but your Cliff Shrubb is my favourite track bike.
