  • @kboy not a bad shout. I've got a Pilgrim Surf Supply parka that i stick my Arcteryx Atom under to warm it up but i tend to find layering stuff particularly with hoods a bit of a faff and never feel that warm. The Finisterre or even something like a Manastash gorilla jacket might work though.

@JB thanks again for all the good info. I'm a bit of a minimalist so tend to do a lot of research before buying, i'd definitely consider buying used. Not heard of Ventile before, looks like just the ticket but half way down page one on Google led me here which is kind of at odds with how i'm trying to purchase now

Might look into the more eco option mind!

  • That’s fair enough. I’ll read that in a bit. Though, to me, buying used Ventile could prevent something from going to landfill :-)

@kboy 20% off with code FRIDAY too.

  • Ventile is still lovely stuff, just not the untreated UK material that it used to be. I think it’s made in Switzerland now, supposedly in a more eco friendly manner than it might be in a less particular country. If you’re looking for waterproof look elsewhere but the 2 layer stuff is quite resistant. Look also at Grenfell, very similar and currently sewn in London’s famous.
