I'm not in a club- I've always been a bit lackadaisical about training- but my approach seems to work for the most part- and has done for previous 1/2 or full marathons.
Just have an IM in the future so trying to be more into the data side of things, and racing always helps!
Plus I love the mud. Started the running bug in the Peaks/Devon, and miss both immensely.

I don't know where you're based and maybe this is short notice but one of the few open XC races I've done is the Pirie 10 , it's this Saturday on Farthing Downs in Coulsdon.
Trionium organise some good off-road events; the Knacker Cracker 10k, Box Hill and Leith Hill HM both coming up in the new year. I've done their Midsummer Munro HM in the Summer, which is a beast.
My favourite (mainly) off-road race is probably the North Downs Run (30k) in June.
Lots of XC left, season runs Oct - Feb. So far we've had 2 of 4 Surrey League races, and main races still to come include the county champs (early Jan), Southern champs (late Jan, Parliament Hill... oof!) and the National in Feb. Are you in a club?
