  • Cheers both. Yes Everlane and Finisterre both have good green credentials so i just wanted input on the quality/design. They're both made in Asia so i may check if Everlane ships straight from the factory otherwise that's a beefy journey to get to me if it's coming from a US warehouse.

@JB, you're NY based? Guessing there's good options for domestic made garments. I struggle with the UK, not the biggest fan of Sunspel and even half of there stuff isn't made here.

I'm on the lookout for a insulated winter coat with a bit of tech but would prefer not to go the Arcteryx/Patagonia route and get something a little more style orientated. Beams are out of my price range and Norse look to me like overpriced Carhartt so if anyone has recommendations i'm all ears.

  • Pretty sure they won’t drop ship. It is a beefy journey, but it comes on a ship via snail mail, so it’s not as bad. It will obviously be flown to you though, if that’s something that concerns you.

I am NY based, yeah. I’ve been buying a bit of vintage since being here, all of which has been MiUSA, New Balance’s and Alden’s are MiUSA and I’ve bought a load of Engineered Garment’s stuff which is all made in New York. But, it all comes at a price - obviously. Vintage can be cheap though - there’s 8 decades worth of US made clothing just hanging around all over the country. For example I just got an early 1960s Made in the USA Brooks Brother’s sack suit in brown corduroy in fantastic condition for $200...

I’m trying to buy less new clothing generally but sometimes there’s no pre owned substitute. Still have a lot of Japanese stuff, too....

Have you considered used for your coat? Perhaps something made out of Ventile if you want it to be a bit more casual? If you’re not aware of it, take a look at marrkt.com - some good deals on there for quality, pre owned menswear. I’ve got a couple of Vancloth (American version of Ventile) jackets and the water repellency has been really good.

  • take a look at marrkt.com

uh oh, loads of good stuff on there

  • for some reason I can never remember how marrkt.com is misspelt and subsequently can never find it online. so thanks for posting it in here.
