I appreciate you work in the industry and it's important people buy stuff to keep shops and stuff open. But as this is the internet we don't have to pretend that Son hubs offer value for money. People can like them and think they look cool, but it's silly to say they perform on some whole other level

Not arguing!
I have seen enough knackered hubs from Shimano / sp to know that Son lasts longer, and can then be repaired, and that for the money the Shimano hubs are well worth it.
Most people don’t ride round the world... some do though. It’s personal, I tend to favour the Jtek hubs as much as SON are bloody lovely.

I’m not sure people are over paying as such. The weight to an SP is a chunk - if your looking to build a lightweight bike then that certainly comes into it.
You also have the aesthetic side of things, then the support if you have any issues etc.
I have an old Shimano and it’s great, also have 2 Jtek hubs and an SON and each can’t really be faulted
