I’m not sure people are over paying as such. The weight to an SP is a chunk - if your looking to build a lightweight bike then that certainly comes into it.
You also have the aesthetic side of things, then the support if you have any issues etc.
I have an old Shimano and it’s great, also have 2 Jtek hubs and an SON and each can’t really be faulted

I appreciate you work in the industry and it's important people buy stuff to keep shops and stuff open. But as this is the internet we don't have to pretend that Son hubs offer value for money. People can like them and think they look cool, but it's silly to say they perform on some whole other level

All I know is that if those maths are correct people are overpaying for their dynamos.
"Given the leverage of a wheel and the flywheel effect of the rotating mass, dynamo hub drag only has a small effect on your speed. The result for most people is likely to be an extra three to six minutes riding time over 100km, all while getting a good charge to your electronics (or while running lights)."
