Whereas I agree that Geneva is probably the city to stay in (also Montreux on the other side of the lake is amazing) I would also go to la Chaux-de-Fonds and Biel/Bienne.
La Chaux-de_Fonds has the Musée international d'horlogerie and the Omega Museum is in Bienne.
Both (haven't been to La Chaux-de-Fonds) are very different to Geneva, more like small industrial (as far as small swiss towns can be industrial) towns than international centres, and the whole region is beautiful. Could well be a nice round trip taking in the Watch Valley, might even be fun by train, if you go by train, try to use one of the ships that are part of public transport.

Tudor Black Bay Chrono.
In a few more years I will of saved enough for one. How hard are they to acquire? Should I go on a waiting list now?

You’re fine, it’s not a Daytona. You can walk into a shop and buy one.

Sweet.

There are a couple of Tudors with minor scarcity issues, specifically the BB58 and the BB GMT, but the waiting lists are a matter of months, if that - both of them are starting to appear in shop windows now.

I buy watches because I like them. Fuck this flipping crap.

The all steel or two tone? Brother-in-law has one and it’s a tidy package indeed, great choice.

How do you guys go about traveling and taking your (valuable) watch with you?
I’ll be leaving for Africa by the end of December and although I’m all for using the watch you bought accordingly, I’m not sure if it would be the wisest of decisions.

Don't flash the cash?
Get a G-Shock you really like.

Insurance or leave it at home.

I was just browsing their website actually haha. // fuck me that website is slow.
To a certain point you're right about flashing the cash but on the other hand you bought something to use it accordingly. Just wondering how everyone dealt with it as we all prefer to bring it along as long as the circumstances allow us probably.

Don't take it off, don't flash it about, don't leave it anywhere.
Or get a fake, wear that, leave the real thing at home.

I'd leave it here. Dont risk your life for a watch.

Replies are in line with what I expected. The wise choice in general I'd say.
I reckon the camera gear I'll bring along will attract more attention than the watch but yeah, better be safe than sorry. I'll bring the Timex on the NATO and be done with it.

Just wear it. It’s really not that dangerous as long as you’re sensible. If you’ve got insurance either way it should be fine right?

Africa is quite generic... I'd say it depends which African country?

Any recommendations for a nice watch storage case/box? Present for my dad's 70th, he rebuilds old Seiko's and has a few cheaper Omega's so nothing too OTT. Wood not leather preferably (might get it personalized). gonna have a wander around clerkenwell today and see if I can find anything vintage but any options would be much appreciated

How quickly do you need it? If you can wait a few weeks for making and delivery I can recommend a USA based workshop that makes incredible watch boxes out of reclaimed wood.

Sounds perfect but I need it by the 6th of December. Would you mind sending me the details anyways
