It seems like it would be quite a long term grooming scam if it is, but I can’t think of any other reason other than maybe to stoke up racial tensions but even that’s a bit far fetched.

Do you live South East? Had the same through my door this summer in Crystal Palace.

The wording of the one on Reddit is clearly a scam: '£20k reward offered...only available to a limited number of people so act quickly'.

I think this is a slightly less transparent variation.

On a related note, I just had a couple of chancers knock on the door claiming they were trying to return a stolen motorbike that had been left the previous night on their private road. Apparently the police had left them to return it, and only gave them the owner's street, not full address. Also, they were vague about make and model because they didn't know much about motorbikes.

But it clearly boiled down to 'can you tell me the house number of anyone with an expensive motorbike?'.
