Dear Sir/Madam
I wish to make a complaint about an extremely disturbing incident that occurred last night with one of your drivers in High Wycombe.
The incident occurred at about 18.30 Monday 25 November 2019, the bus in question had route number 103 and had the number 712 on the side.
I was cycling from High Wycombe railway station towards the town centre along Castle St. I filtered up the inside of the stationary bus, in a legal and safe manner. When I got to the front of the bus, it became clear it was stationary as the car in front had stopped to let another car out of a side road. The bus driver was aggressively and repeatedly using his horn, and then started to edge the bus forwards towards my rear wheel. I turned watch what was happening and the driver was extremely agitated, gesturing and shouting at me from the cab.
At this point the traffic cleared and I cycled off staying well clear of the bus. However, when waiting at the red traffic light on Oxford Road between Sainsburys and the bus station, the same bus pulled alongside and the driver opened his window and told me "You're going to end up in a wooden box". As I don't appreciate receiving death threats from a driver of a large and potentially lethal vehicle, I followed him into the bus station to discuss further. However he refused to talk to me other than more shouting, screaming and again asking if I "wanted to die". At all times I was calm, did not raise my voice and made it clear I just wanted to discuss the matter and understand his problems. After a couple of minutes, the driver reversed the bus and drove off.
I would like to register a strong complaint about this erratic, aggressive and intimidating behaviour. In particular, giving death threats to vulnerable road users such as cyclists is highly worrying behaviour. This driver appeared out of control of his actions and emotions.
Many thanks for your assistance in this matter
Yours sincerely etc
It's a fair point, however it was a small hopper-style single decker, clearly not going anywhere, with a large gap on the inside. In different circumstances I wouldn't do it.
Sent this to Carousel Buses this morning...
