  • I've used some for about a thousand miles & they're not too worn. Can't comment on proper long term durability though.

  • i had a set of g-one bite that i used over a long weekend of gravelling and they didn't hold up too well. couple of punctures and the little knobs showed some signs of wear afterwards as well.
    i realise they're different tyres, but the little knobbles put me off a bit.
    i think i'd prefer something with a more solid centre tread

  • If you're commuting best to get anything with an slick central channel, anything knobbly or file thread will eventually wear out. I liked Hutchinson overrides, something like that.
    Another thing that will eat your tires is excessive pressure, can't see the logic of running 40c tires so overinflated that only a small bit of the rubber is making contact with the road.

  • Used the Strada USH 32mm last winter and put them back on this winter, great tyres & decently hard wearing. Not sure if the non tubeless versions are as good but they’re £10 on Planet X atm.

  • I've put these on recently and quite pleased too. Robust, hard wearing, cheapish, not too heavy, OK to fit. Crazy talk I know but these are first black wall tyres since 2014 and everything's been OK.

  • fwiw i commute on g-one speeds in 35mm and have done so for a few years now. they appear to wear relatively quickly but i still get maybe 4k out of them. very very rarely puncture. like 3-4 times in as many years. run tubeless w/ orange seal at 40-50psi (i'm 75kg).

  • Commuting on G One Speeds for me too - they wear fast but i still havent killed them after 2 years.

    Self sealing using Orange Endurance works well and I can detour over the Heath to take a break from the traffic.

  • Bit smaller in my experience. The mile munchers 25.5 ran at 24mm.

  • They're going on my winter bike which I also use for cross and change tyres on frequently so probably looking to avoid wire bead tyres. Thanks though.

    Are wirebead harder to change than folding? More awkward to store, but I find wirebead tyres easier to do a quick change, what with them holding their shape and all.

  • I ran these for a couple of years in their Clement guise. Found them good value, fine in dry and wet, very puncture resistant. Were quite happy on light gravel too. Slightly leaden feeling but hey, you can't have everything.

  • I used them when they were called Clement a few years ago, the 28c folding tanwall ones. They cut up super easy for me, around 6 months in they were covered in nicks of various sizes. Replaced the rear since that had a couple of slashes I didn't feel comfortable riding on and that lasted about 4 months. Switched to bigger GravelKings after that which I've been much happier with.

    Aside from cutting up, they rode nicely enough and I think I only got 1 actual puncture in that time.

  • Luck of the draw maybe. I've had my GKs twice as long as my Stradas now and ridden a lot more rough surface stuff with them and they're still cut free. Probably applies to my experience with Stradas too since I've not seen many other complaints about them cutting up as easily as I experienced.

    This is pretty true of all tyres in my experience.

    I'm not too fussed if a tyre gets cut up so long as it doesn't puncture. Pretty hard to avoid all the glass in London so I've stopped letting it bother me. I find that if a tyre has a thick central tread it'll prevent a lot of punctures from small shards of glass.

  • Rebranded Clement , quality is shit. (I have had 3 separate pairs, 3 different types and size, all shit)

  • Wirebeads are harder to change if you get a difficult combination, I get a lot of people with a tubeless ready rim + OTP wire bead tire unable to remove the tire. Folding loosens a bit over time

  • Is the quality worse than it used to be? I've just got one to hang up in shed as a spares as I was doing a PX order anyway...Had some of the folding tan walls a while back that seemed fine for the price.

    From what I understand, the Clement tyres have actually always been re branded Donnely tyres, but now Donnely have given up the brand name, which they were only licensing.

  • Makes some sense, but I do find wire bead tyres loosen up with age too.

    Need as a daily tyre. Ruled out lifeline prime armour as the reviews say shit grip in wet, dont want that.
