Beware that the SP9 has long OLN-to-shell spacers and a narrow hub shell, so wheel flex could be an issue with that hub (IME ... with too few spokes for my bulk and a crabon rim). I have not used the SP8. Lots of poeple love em.

If I wanted want cheap, I'd buy a midrange shimano. If you a fancy schmancy, buy SON.

I was just going to buy one of the Halo pre-builts because on trade they're only like £80 and building a wheel would probably be the same.

what shimano one would you recommend?

The downside to Halo factory built wheels is they insist on aluminium nipples for some reason. I’ve broken 5 in my rear wheel (live by the sea though)

I’ve got one of those halo wheels, been fine so far, shit spokes I think but will just rebuild it with better spokes if needed in future.
