  • Maybe someone here has a recommendation for me. I'm looking for a good old Spaceship game.

    specifically:

    • Single Player
    • Open World
    • Lots of customization
    • Not tooooo complicated though.
    • I wanna build/buy/customize a spaceship, fly it through space and shoot at things.

I've played and enjoyed Freelancer (heck, this was the childhood game that got me into all this), Darkstar One (limited to one ship, though), X3 (sunk SO many hours into this.) etc.

Anything new-ish out there, that I've missed?

  • There are some new games in the X series, can't recommend X Rebirth from my experience of it. Nothing compared to X3. But X4 Foundations was out last year which I've not played yet. Could be worth looking into. Unsure about the ship customisability in game though. As mentioned already No Mans Sky is getting good reviews now that it's had some updates and there's Elite Dangerous.

  • Token hipster answer, check out Rodina. May not be for you, basically a solo dev's attempt at a No Man's Sky-style game (pre-dating NMS be a few years)
