M&S gianduja bars are practically the same thing as vego. Think you can get the same style of thing from morrisons as well.
I’ve developed a minor allergy to hazelnuts stopping me from enjoying them sadly! Le sigh

Thank you for the ideas!
Sausage rolls? I like to make mini bean burger bites, but not sure how well they'd keep.
I like the idea of some kind of rolls!
Regarding the bean burger bites - what recipe do you use?
I really liked the Post Punk Kitchen one in the past but can't stand the vital wheat gluten stringy-texture-ness anymore, it really puts me off now actually..Peanut butter/oat/coconut balls are my other go to. Or just a jar of peanut butter, I figure I can always find bread and bananas!
Ha, yea, that's aways plan B٭! Though I'm really trying to find something savoury / less sugar-y..
٭ plan Banana

Found this list while looking for somewhere local- few places I’ve never heard of before :)

Tempted to bulk buy a load from Outdoor Provisions with their 30% off & they said the best before for the current stock is June 2020. Any flavours to avoid? Will just order mixed bundles otherwise.

Have you tried the Vego bars?
These are amazing.
Aldi's fancy dark (but not at all bitter) choc is great too, particularly the 'Orange & Almond'

I'm a bit of a picky bastard, and genuinely like all four flavours they've done so far. The Kendal Mint Cake one isn't that minty, in case that might have put you off. The consistency is pretty well blended, fyi, no chunks of oats/sultanas/nuts.

Sainsbury's do an own brand fruit and nut bar, it's 99p for a big boy (in Leeds anyway). Don't know if you've tried that, I haven't had one in a while but remember it being a moderately chunky boi.

Ah ok, probably won't bother next time I'm down! From what I remember there's a nice Vietnamese place in Pop if you're there again.

2 tins of beans, I like black beans and chickpeas but you can use whatever is handy. A small onion chopped as fine as you can. Oats, blitzed to a fairly fine flour but you don't have to get fancy, 50-80g depending how wet your beans are.
Mash the beans, add the onion and seasoning. Again, whatever you like. I usually use soy sauce, cumin, paprika and chilli. Add a generous amount, it'll take a lot of seasoning. Then add the oats a bit at a time until you can form burgers. Usually makes 4 big ones. Of you can just roll little patties for snack size. Then fry them until browned.
Fav sides for dinner and are stir fry broccoli and roasted sweet potato 💕

Ooh, nice thanks. I'll keep an eye out!

I’m going to give these a try

Sounds ace, definitely cooking these soon. Thanks

..blitzed oats, hmm?
Thank you very much, if I have time I will do a test run of these and then make some for the trip.

I think you can use flour, cooked rice, or anything that will dry the mix out a bit and bind it. I just always have loads of oats, and you don't really taste them once it's cooked

Also should say, work best with better quality tinned beans. The cheap cheap ones tend to be a bit drier and hard, so don't mash as nicely
-
• #7067
Have you considered sewing them?

Thank you again.
Yea I think flavour-wise these could indeed work nicely with brow rice.
I'm just super paranoid with rice going bad, so not a great option for taking on a 3-day-trip, ha.Also I agree for some reason ther's big differences with the cheap cheap vs. nice / organic tinned beans.
I do soak my own actually when I have the time / plan ahead wisely, it's really cheap that way. -

Also I just came across an older recipe from Isa's site which I enjoyed a lot in the past, her
Zucchini-Banana-BreadThis may sound awkward but it doesn't taste like zucchini at all, it is kinda sweet but also a bit savoury (I usually dial-down the sugar, vanilla and cinnamon), and I think this is really nice with coffee, you can do it muffin-style as well of course.

Also, breadcrumbs! Totally forgot, but I think that was actually the original recipe. But I never have bread and always have oats.

Been going a bit burger crazy lately... can recommend Naked Glory and The Meatless Farm Co... Might not be everyone’s cuppa as they’re quite meaty but they’re both pretty amazing. I’d liken them to Beyond Meat but half the price.

I got some vegan burgers from Costco, Don Lee farms, a bit like the beyond meat burger. Had then on Friday with violife slice melted on top. They are really good. Not massive but good flavour and texture.
Best burger improvement I've made is finding Celtic baker's vegan brioche buns.

I don't know how many people are aware of the Animal Aid Christmas Festival, but just in case--it's one of the best events on the London vegan calendar. It's been going for 27 years; I think I first went in about '98 or '99. Highly recommended.

Let me know if you want to make it a vegan forum meet-up.

Sausage rolls? I like to make mini bean burger bites, but not sure how well they'd keep. Maybe a nut roast type thing, sliced up?
