I've got a feeling that there is more dirt to come. The interview was a poorly misjudged attempt to head it off and that this stepping back from public duties is a last ditch attempt at the royal family collectively sticking their fingers in their ears, shouting "LALALALA we can't hear you" and hoping it will all go away.

In his Newsnight interview, Andrew said that he met the convicted sex offender in 1999 through Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s ex-girlfriend
However according to a letter to The Times from the duke’s private secretary in March 2011, Andrew first met Epstein in the early 1990s.
That date has been corroborated by a friend who knows both Ms Maxwell and the duke.
