I've had a 1/8" chain on a 39t 10sp shimano chainring before on a fixed setup with no issues

Cheers, that's what I'd hoped was the case. I guess mixing a thin 10sp+ chain on an older, thicker chainring would maybe cause slight issues.

Probably be ok, are you running this single speed?
If gears, you’d really want at least a 9 speed chain for a 10 speed cassette

Well it's a bit of a triggers broom ;)
Old school Shimano XT 8sp cassette, IG51 chain and DA 7410 chainset with later 10sp rings. (not yet fitted hence question). All parts are nos/new...
Am I going to die if I mix a new shimano IG51 6/8speed chain with a new Shimano Ultegra 6600 10sp front inner chainring? Will the chain be too wide for the narrower 10sp ring or am I overthinking it?
