  • Wow, if you guys couldn't shift 10 in a year then that's pretty tough.

    Might be an indication that there's lukewarm uptake on the e-Brompton?

  • We were not in the first batch of e bike dealers, so maybe that has some affect.

    Normal bike sales no issue, the main thing we see with the E bike is that in somerset, everyone drives. People dont replace the car with a bike, everyone drives to work!

  • The question is, how many sales might you be losing to c&c (bespoke, SE and electric) at the local Halfords/Evans/cycle republic/crap lbs? The website channels people into c&c locally now rather than directing them to a decent dealer (sometimes miles away from them) to discuss their needs and get the right bike.

  • We have discussed this at length with them, like talking to a wall, all their marketing is frustrating, support for dealers is lesser than I expect.

    We are pushing in other areas, Brompton will do their thing

  • Ah balls. I was just asking if you’d sent that parcel to Cake, I’d still like that rim. Also you asked me to mail you regarding a used or shop-soiled 50t crankset, but I think my email is buggered.

  • I’m going down to pick up a Brompton and bring back to London on friday/Saturday all being well if that’s any help?

  • I think my rear axle/bearing are gone. I've had the bike for just over a year, should i replace the axle/bearing or get a entire new rear wheel instead?

  • Aye. That’s why we have enough stock to cover our asses. Now we also have forks, frames, stems and triangles. Plus aftermarket stuff. Our plan for 2020 is 100 bikes in store. Brompton can’t keep to 4 weeks, that’s not good enough.

  • Is it possible to use the parts* from a S2L on a S1E to give it an extra gear?
    *R wheel, derailleur thingy, and shifter etc.

  • I have the s1E & have found for sale a wheel set off an S2L complete with shifter & derailleur etc.
    Do I just swap wheels & install derailleur & shifter?
    Is the installation of the derailleur and shifter straightforward?

  • You don’t need a wheel,

    Add sprockets, chain, shifter,cable, Anchorage, DR and tensioner.

    It’s hard to learn unless shown I think, fiddly

  • So it turns out you can't just buy new levers and upgrade like a boss... No one told me about the bit on the stay I need to replace.. Ugh!!

    You can use a cable through and a grub lock on the end, the new anchorage sucks.

  • it works, but its over designed and the older style works better in terms of less to go wrong, you drop anything and its a new kit etc. over complicated.
