Interesting. How’ve you stuck the tube block to the plate?
-
• #55
i drilled and tapped some holes in the underside and used some m3 screws to affix it to the plate. You can just about see the holes in one of the photos

I see I see. Do you want a commission to make something similar?
-
• #57
yeah sure, what bit would you want? just the axle?
-
• #58
I’ve got a 40x120 main beam of extrusion (3 slot) without any method of holding a rear axle.
Your set up looks like plenty enough for my needs.
What do you reckon? Ideally something to hold onto the axle too
Happy to pay you whatever it costs you in time=money plus materials -

Sure thing, I'll have a look at what I paid material wise over lunch and get back to you

Ok well ive almost finished the frame.
I totally forgot to update this thread but the frame is pretty much done. 3 brazeons left then its done. Very exciting. Starting to put together some parts to build it up, should be pretty much there by the end of the week. Ill whack some photos of the frame as it is rn in a sec -

Beautiful!
May I ask what torch / Pedal you use?
Which RTECH-Welder model is this? The clamp on the Seatpost does what exactly?
-
• #67
thanks :)
The torch is CK No9, welder is RTECH digital 160 amp
The seat clamp on the second frame is there because i didn't leave much seat tube above the seat stay weld. As a result the slot for the seatpost was a bit on the short side, and doesn't exert enough force on the post, so i had issues with slipping seatpost. To stop it i made another collar that fits around the seatpost and prevents it from slipping down.

Thanks!
I thought so, the other clamp is strong enough to prevent it from rotating I guess...

All built up.
Very happy with the geo

Bangin. Constant downhill saddle makes my bum hurt just looking at it
-
• #71
haha yeah i took this photo pretty much just after building it up. Ive fiddled with the position a bit since, saddle and bars are more level now.

ok well first thing, plan for the next frame is to shamelessly nick @Skant 's idea for a fat tyre fixed gear frame. Inspire by his thread i will get on with something similar, only it will take me far longer to do worse job. Anyways im syked for that.
Also i managed to get myself an oxyfeul torch. It was found during a clean out at work and was gonna be thrown out...so i nabbed it. Its a BOC branded torch, i dont know how much its been used but it looks in ok knick. I dont really know how to tell tho.
so i think this is an excuse to get myself set up with oxyprop ive wanted to for a while but have been putting it off. How have others done it? @PhilDAS @M_V I have an account with air products for argon, i guess i can get some o2 as well?

Think I used Londongases. Rent free bottles, free delivery
Propane is easier to get but they do it too
@PhilDAS dummy axle
