With Americano, don’t pull the whole volume of the drink through the espresso puck. It tastes a lot cleaner if you pull an espresso onto hot water you boiled in the kettle.
It’ll never be as clear as a filter coffee. Espresso will always have more solids in it than something that has gone through a paper filter. That said, I have seen someone pulling low pressure shots through a paper filter in the bottom of the portafilter. Cut some Aeropress filters up and have some fun!
My missus has totally gone off espresso and just drinks aeropress as she prefers the lighter flavour. Any tips on making long black type drinks that taste more like filter/aeropress?
