I got my face melted by Sandrien and Ben Sims (in particular) at The Cause (Tottenham Hale) on Friday night. I can't remember a better club night. Just magic. The techno started out really fresh and pleasing at 11pm and then for 6 hours it just got better, heavier and filthier.
Wonderful crowd too, friendly vibes, chill venue, and nothing felt commercial.
At 5am, finally turfed out, we were all like "wtf did we just witness".

Not banging but quite a lovely groove

I hung out with a couple of Belgian dudes at the end of TPR and they were into this. I forget what they called the genre, something like tripno techno or similar
It was "Hypno Techno", my notes:
Hypno techno
Donato Dozzi
Peter van Hoesen
A. Brehmen
Hypno Records
Giegling Records, Prince of Denmark
Mall GrabThe real Melbourne House
DJ Nobu

No love for the Surgeon on youtube?
Not heard much from him recently. Quite like some of his stuff. Mate used to go out with Brummie so saw him play a fair bit up there. I assume he's from there?

He is I think!
Yeah, there's a really good video of Surgeon explaining his live rig on YT

See also Barker - his Utility album is really good - no kicks!!

That would sound insane on a club system.

Not really a fan of that 808 electronica sound but I love the bass intro.

Listening now. Probably decent background work music but not something I'd seek out.

ha yeah know what you mean, although weirdly he does manage to have quite a decent low end in his tracks, there is the sense of weight there

The Rrose album is an absolute masterpiece. Such a brilliant producer:

Yeah the last one was epic. I'm on that!

Actually it was Abdulla Rashim I was thinking of! Not Rrose
The EPs Polar Inertia put out when they were a duo really are a high water mark for techno in the last decade or so.
