Riding fixed or single speed? Full bike or frame only. If the latter you might want to consider the build kit to sway your choice. The Shark is cool but it will look crap if you don't have the right parts to match the frame IMO.

Oh, and the sharks aero seatpost will cut 20% off your commute time
Another 5% off since its red

I have a steel one and can confirm it is super fun and really fast. The paintjob on the newest steel one is the best too, imo

Another vote for steel vig. Had one, sold it, regretted it ever since. Was brutal fast for short hard rides and comfortable for the several 100+ mile hilly rides I did on it (which surprised me). New Black sparkle paint version does look killer too.

Hey thanks to everyone for all the super feedback - great to hear from you guys, even if I'm still a little torn. Still leaning towards the steel...

I suspect I'll eventually go single speed, def full bike as I don't have the time now to source/ build it. Would you say one model better than the other for single speed?
-
• #34
The steel vig I had didn't have a rear brake drilling so it can only be ridden fixed. I think it's the same for the new colourway too. And most Cinelli fixed gear models TBH.
-
• #35
That's right on the Steel vig - i assume that one would have to stay fixed? (or is there any way to mount a break without drilling..?) The alu models are actually pre-drilled for rear break, funny enough.
-

Not sure I'd want to rely on a bracket to take braking forces, but I think they might be available. Others on here will have experience of them and can comment with more authority. You'll also need to lash the cable to the top tube somehow. Would be a shame to spoil the vig in this way.
Not ridden any other cinelli models but as others have said the geo of the steel vig is spot on. Think road handling rather than track. My only frustration with it was the lack of bottle bosses for a frame that lends itself so well to long road rides.

TBH if i were going single speed i'd look for something with internal routing or at least cable stops. Maybe just me but i really dislike cables strapped to the toptube. See any post 2017ish Cinelli fixed build from Japan for evidence.
Mash works?..

Agreed there is little point spoiling the Steel V. Alu apparently have internal routing, so perhaps, ultimately, it comes down to a more fundamental decision - stay fixed with the steel or single speed with one of the two alu models.

• #39
stay fixed with the steel

Steel vig has internal rear brake routing according to Cinelli website.

Here’s a brake clamped to the seat stays of a Pista. Better than drilling the frame.
Another vote for the steel Vig here, great ride and fast.

Thanks for the great feedback and tips, everyone! And agreed @Shandoom, rather not drill the frame - so this is a good pointer. @Jackness you're right they do say that but I'm starting to think that may be an error. I can't see the exit, and there's definitely no drill for the mount on the steel version in photos. You can see the cable route and mount space in photos of the alu versions. Might just send Cinelli a mail and ask them )

Just got this mostly finished this week. It’s awesome!
I can confirm it’s drilled for a rear brake andHad internal routing if you want it.

Gratuitous flash use for added sparkle. Needs a bit of a clean already

Wow thanks @magpie that's super helpful. The stock photos on Cinelli website (same that retailers use) doesn't have that brake mount drill, so it's a real eye opener to see the close up shot - thanks so much for settling that for us. Bike looks great! Love that paint scheme.
Just out of curiosity, can I ask what size you went for? I'm 5.11 and tempted by the medium (53 steel or 54 all) even though retailer size guides are telling me to order a L (56).

No worries. Thanks, I've still waiting for a thomson seatpost and stem to finish it then I can chop down the fork and it'll be set.
The paintjob is stunning! Can't wait for some actual sunshine to hit it though may be waiting a while.
I'm 6'3" so I've gone for the XL,

Was looking at the brake mount too, Cinelli website don't show it, it would appear that it's a 2020 spec frame that has the rear brake mount.
Lack of mount put me off the garish steel vig and onto a Steamroller instead, kinda neat they have got round to running a choice for SS or fixed as i didn't fancy either clamping a caliper to the chainstays or seatstays........ kinda liking the rollers tyre clearance though..... :)

The steel Vigorelli frame and fork can easily fit 30mm G-One Speeds on 19mm internal width rims tough. I know it’s a lot less than Rollers can take, but just if someone’s interested about Vigorelli’s clearances.

Having had both a 2019 (well, claimed to be 2019 by Wiggle, not sure how I'd be able to tell) and a 2020 frame (don't ask), I can say both seem to have the rear brake mount point.
Also, it rides really really nicely.

really? I have 28s in mine and it looks pretty tight. They are michelin pro4 endurance v2s. Wow that is not a catchy name
@MechaMorgan rides a steel one
