My first run in several years yesterday was a triumph. Only ran 5km because I had to go to a family lunch and I’d massively overdressed. Managed 4.41/km which I was pleased with.
I want to do a half next year (probably in the second half of 2019) and ideally get round sub-1.30 to prove a point to a friend.
How many times a week do I need to run? Someone had suggested three: one endurance run, one which incorporates faster intervals and one at close to race pace, getting gradually longer. Does that sound about right?
It is a common approach. I'd lay off the intervals until your body is used to running regularly though. You will get lots of gains through consistent steady miles at first.
