Today I had the privilege of starting some restoration work on this grade II listed building that was designed by Naeve Brown. I'm well chuffed.

Nice one, must be interesting. I've become so specialised in victorian and local to one area, gets me all at sea when I work somewhere modern.

Its very interesting and a bit daunting. Because it's so minimalist there is nowhere to hide less than perfect workmanship. Also a number of the owners are architects and therefore have high standards.

As long as they can afford their high standards.

Thinking about it, maybe the umlauftank 2 of technische Universität is crazier?
Funnily enough I was thinking of that exact building. It's great.

I'm renovating and repairing some windows.
The place I'm working is fairly unique as it's a small block that was privately funded by the architect and one of the residents (who still lives there). The original owners I believe had to undergo an interview in order to be able to buy one of the houses.
One of the properties is currently for sellz if you fancy it and can find double what you may offer on the other place.

Found this while looking for something else. Fun for a click through on a grey afternoon. https://www.flickr.com/photos/jrjamesarchive/

What’s the recommended process for finding an architect if you’re looking to do work on your house? Thinking side return, loft and internal re-config. I don’t want to waste people’s time.

I'd say they are only for completely clueless people like me, if you know someone/better dont go with them. They could be defined as most 'vanilla'. Which is what I wanted.

Niche one - I’ve got a copy of ‘Notes for those beginning the discipline of architecture’, which despite the name is more of a design curio than anything of use. Nobody on the internet has anything nice to say about it, but it’s a fun bit of print design. No idea about the dvd, have no means of playing it. Anyone can have it for the price of posting it to them as I feel bad throwing it away.

i found these yesterday and thought they were quite interesting
Matt sanded is a nice finish, much less “commercial kitchen” than brushed.
