Catalina broke SMB sharing. I use a Fire TV, running Kodi on it to play videos which are stored in the Mac (via SMB) Since Catalina it can't play anything (connection and directory listing works, getting data somehow doesn't) so I now have no use for the Fire TV. Sad. Maybe it was time.
Switched to using Videostream, which is a Chromecast streamer app, free version works fine for my needs. But I think it transcodes videos to keep the FPS up, so no more 1080p, or it will freeze on medium bitrate scenes (which is everything on 1080p)
