Yes the return on investment will be interesting - with the stuff we’re making there’s one product in particular that I think we’ll break even with but that might be tight (there are other reasons as to why we’re doing that one than just profit). Some of the bigger nations will of course just be burning money for speed not for ROI.
Hope are not going to make anything out of it though, but they do have zillions in the bank so it won’t sink them.

I think it’s a better situation overall, yeah

For example you can now buy the German bikes from here:
For a certain value of 'buy'. POA, warning of very long lead times, no actual ability to buy things using the website. Hmmmmm...

Stupendous speed! Congrats, and on point product logo placement...

We did think long and hard about where to put them lol - did cost an eye watering €510 worth of import duty to get them released to him in Belarus!

Can I have them when he's done...
Oh, with Di2 routing, cheers. :)

It doesn’t seem that long ago that 4:04 would be a world class time in the team pursuit.
-
• #2464
Then he went and did a 4:02.647 in the final. Incredible. Faster than some nations' current fastest TPs.

Is it still a folding bar? Feel free to post any spyshots :)

Some cool looking bunch bars on sam welsford's bike. Like a better 3t sphinx. I don't ride in that position but if I did I think I could manage having these on my bike.

Titanium 3D printed bars made by Bastion in Oz, apparently.

Only 2040 Ozzie dollars.
There is an article about Bastion Advanced on Cycling Tips.
They have been 3D printing ti dropouts and bits for a few years now. -

It’s interesting that they’re leaving them bare and aren’t concealing the fact that they’re 3D printed Ti any more. I’m sure they’ve been painting them black gloss in the past to hide them and make them look like carbon bars. I thought Renishaw were making them actually; there is someone over here now making high quality printed Ti parts, not just for the cycling industry.

I thought Renishaw were making them
I think Renishaw are making the printed bits for the Team GB Hope/Lotus, Bastion are doing stuff for the Aussies.

Renishaw is the company that make the 3D printer Bastion is using.
https://www.renishaw.com/en/bastion-cycles-takes-ownership-of-its-metal-am-capabilities--44758Here's a synopsis of Hope's use of a Renishaw printer.
https://www.renishaw.com/en/cranking-down-cycle-time-for-hope-technology--37932Hope is likely making bits for TeamGB rather than Renishaw themselves.
Yeah, I get that the stuff now has to be offered for sale, what I don't get is how the really expensive bits (mainly frames, but also bars, stems and cranks where they are proprietary interfaces with the frame) are actually commercial, in the sense that total sales revenue exceeds total production cost. @leggy_blonde implies that Hope are in it to make a profit. It seems to me that the only way for them to be in the black is to act as a contractor to BC, who end up paying all the R&D cost and then let Hope charge just the flyaway cost of each extra frame for the half dozen they sell to obsessive and wealthy collectors who already have a 108 and a 110 hanging on the wall of their mansion 🙂
