FS: Orbit f/f 49x49 tiny! SOLD.

  • Decided to let this go!

Me and this frame have seen many happy and always safe city commute missions.

It’s had a rear dropout repair by Hackney Pedaller a while back as developed issue with thread on gear hanger, which is the reason for that repair. And someone tried to steal or mess with, so it’s got a super tiny tiny small dent on upper rear stay above brake bridge area.

It’s a ikle tiny compact Orbit 49x49 frame. Suitable for smaller people, not medium or large adults!

    700c front / rear
531 comp tubes with 653 forks
    100mm front axel - 130mm rear.

I’ll chuck in some good working condition older light grey 105 brakes that aren’t pictured. It comes with correct unusual size seatpost (not seized/ or stuck!) + good usable Tange headset.

    £25. Is located Kilburn NW6.

    NOW SOLD / COLLECTED

  • Am worried I’ve underpriced.

What position does this leave me in regarding this classified listing, can I get some advise please?

  • Raising the price now is a definite no-no.

You listed the frame for a price you thought was reasonable and would be happy with if sold. People are willing to pay this price. Now you think people might be willing to pay more, you're unhappy. Why?

Admittedly £25 for a sound frame is not a lot.

  • So, I’ve no idea how much the frame is worth, that’s why I’m asking, and know the classified might have some rules about pricing. So there are no apparent exceptions about this.

So price should remain at £25. Got it.

Just feel a bit vulnerable that I’m letting go of something that could be worth more than stated, hence question.

  • Also, someone did offer me more via private message, what happens then?

I’ve got three dibs, do I honour those? Other user in question was pretty quickly private message me, however strictly speaking he was 2nd interest. But did offer to negotiate higher price if the frame goes his way? Though wants it posted as cannot collect.

This all makes me worried if anything, it’s been bugging me since yesterday!

  • Mind you, this is all my personal opinion.

Whether you honour dibs or not is up to you. Some members believe heavily in it, others don't care for it and specifically mention 'no dibs' in their listings.

Of course you are free to sell the frame to whomever you like. If someone offers you more via PM, you'd have to be pretty principled to say no. But this is where it might become a bit of a grey area. Because if it's the highest price you're after and you want people to outbid each other, eBay may suit you better.

This all shouldn't cause stress. After all it's just a bicycle frame you're letting go for non-astronomical prices. Only thing I'd advice against is raising the price in your listing at this point.

  • You say;

“Now you think people might be willing to pay more, you're unhappy. Why?“

Huh? Sounds similar what the Tory’s want to with the NHS.

  • Got it man, thanks for helping

  • I'm not from the UK and therefore not familiar with the situation surrounding the NHS. I'm just trying to understand where you're coming from when it comes to your concerns.

  • Sure it resolves, this is just a sale for a nice frame. Must be simple!

  • Underpriced but I suppose you could always change your mind and withdraw it from sale. This would piss off the buyers but would mean you might get a bit more £ somewhere else.
Depends how much you need the £ I suppose...
Same thing happened a while back with a hetchins frameset- I can’t remember the outcome though...
Good luck with your moral dilemma- only you know what to do ;)

  • I’ve arranged with luccas for collection. So not sure if wanted to post the frame, or I’d have said in listing. Offering me more via PM only confused my sale.

The frame is probably worth more than the small amount I’ve been asking, it’s hand built with high grade tubing and might have been a special order, I’m unsure there’s another one exactly identical.

If for some reason the sale doesn’t go ahead, I’ll work through the the dibs list.

  • Sold and collected.
