Well, I didn't see that coming. Obviously anxious at the start and the Sink injury plus those first few decisions that certainly seemed to favour the Boks (Farrell doesn't release for 1 second, penalty against, Etzebeth doesn't release for 3 seconds, no penalty) really seemed to knock England. The only saving grace was that we were walloped fair and square (if you let a few 50/50s - maybe 70/30s - that don't go your and am early injury knock you out your stride like that you deserve to come second. That said, the Boks were excellent.Oh well, work/life has stopped me fully immersing myself in this World Cup but if only for Uruguay beating Fiji, Japan's performances and England v All Blacks it's certainly up there with the best in my lifetime.
Well it was a winning performance from SA but exactly what we expected - dull, attritional thudding rugby, no real flow, and just pressuring them opposition into conceding penalties. Horrible to watch, the rugby equivalent of Stoke City under Pulis. Gah.
