I think it's just marketing and rim width, like expressing the width of MTB tyres in inches but road/gravel in mm
-
• #2228
Yeah, fair enough. Any opinions on the wheel at the low end of the market? Another option would be to buy some rims and get them built up to make super solid hand-built wheels.

No opinions with any real experience! I built some just buying cheap components from an online German bike shop, all based solely on price. In retrospect I could have bought those superstar ones and some hub adapters cheaper!

Boost? That isn't gonna work on a road bike is it.
-
• #2232
No, but they have a few others in there too I think, and it's just axle adapters that need swapping out?
Tbh I might be totally wrong... -

I have the Hunts. They're ace. I've had them for 2-3 years and they've taken fully loaded bikes across Wales and Scotland, on and off road and I've never had a buckle or anything. In fact they are still virtually pristine.
They currently reside on an Arkose 2019. -

How much do you weigh? The Hunts do look like a quick/easy option.
-
• #2235
12 stone with a 20+ kilo bike in the past.
I had a friend who was worried as they have a relatively low maximum rider/bike weight but I've never had an issue.
Edit: '115kgs is the upper recommended rider weight limit for these wheels'
A plus with the hunts is you can super easily change the axles.

Stone + Kilo = Parsecs?
They should work for me. What sort of tyres were you running on them?

I realised I was mixing scales and it even annoyed me! Blame the EU ;)
I've had a few.
The infamous Panaracer Rock N Road that you can now get from planet X

I'm currently running these at 47b

I'm after a bit of help / guidance. I have a Genesis equilibrium disc in which I have managed to squeeze a set of 32mm gravelkings SK's, I would like to swap out to 650b's and was wondering what would be the biggest tyre I could get away.. I have since swapped the SK’s for 28mm non SK’s, so would like to have a gravel wheelset I can just throw into the bike..

I'm running GKs.
650 x 1.5 at the front
650 x 1.75 at the back -
• #2243
Thanks for that.. would you get. 1.75 on the back?
-
• #2244
Yes that's what I said! :)
-
• #2245
Sorry, got mixed up.. would the 1.75 fit on the front? with the standard carbon fork? Why do you run different sizes?
-
• #2246
A 1.75 will rub on the stock fork. That's the reason for using a 1.5 on the front. Hope that's helpful :)
-
• #2247
Thanks again.. Not sure if my OCD would let me run mismatched sizes though

Univega is a banger

Can I ask if anyone is running WTB Byways on wider than recommended rims?
I've got some Scraper 35mm rims that is like to use but says max rim width is 27mm.
Can anyone see a problem with this? -
• #2250
Advised against, especially running tubeless.
Do they do 650B? Their search doesn't work if they do.
