Depends on your experience.
An old neighbor when I was little had been a Labour supporter as a young man. His mother died slowly in hospital over the Winter of Discontent. The family had to clean, change, wash, etc. her.
Of course there are plenty of logical counter arguments. But that stayed with him, in the same way that your image forms part of your political identity.
"Labour isn't working"
"can the last labour voter turn off the lights?"
These things resonate more than
for some reason.
