As in they don't retain their waterproofing? If so can this be topped up in a waterproofing wash?

Or do you mean the fabric tears easily?

It has almost no abrasion resistance, so if you actually use it, it wears through quickly
don't waste your money on it yet

I just got one. Of the people who I've met who have them all rave about them.
Granted they haven't been around that long but I'm unsure they meet your stated demographic.
