Shakedry fabrics still have fuck all durability so are only for cashed up geezers who don’t ride much
-
• #4803
As in they don't retain their waterproofing? If so can this be topped up in a waterproofing wash?
Or do you mean the fabric tears easily?
-
• #4804
Probably the later, you can't wear them with a bag, wear it away and lets water in
I've just ordered one, wish I was a cashed up geezer and cycled less :D

It has almost no abrasion resistance, so if you actually use it, it wears through quickly
don't waste your money on it yet -

I just got one. Of the people who I've met who have them all rave about them.
Granted they haven't been around that long but I'm unsure they meet your stated demographic. -

I have had the one from Gore for over a year and a half and it hasn't quite vaporized like @platypus is prophesying. It's totally fine for road bike use. I wouldn't wear a bag with it or ride through brush, but the cut of the jacket isn't really suitable for those kinds of activities either. Flimsiness aside the material is amazing. It feels unlike anything else I've got, quite a strange sensation when you put it on.

@GoatandTricycle Would be keen to hear a review once you've used it a bit.

I have one of the GORE ones too, amazing bit of kits. Still a bit boil in the bag if it's in any way warm though

Have found that as well, I guess it's because of the windproofing. Feel like you get away with less layers under one than you'd expect.

That has been my winter training jacket for the last month, going from -4 to +10.
Good "race" fit, id say reasonably priced, warm: ofcourse depends on the layering, keeps water and snow out. (Confirmed in Finnish hailstorm)
Also three pockets and a zip pocket aswell. -

Thanks, it's on my watch list , handy to know what ranges you are using it in.

The new La Passione rain jersey looks like it could be a better looking, cheaper alternative to a Gabba (at rrp anyway). Anybody have one?
Also I've read about the customer service not being great, but how are the actual products?

I have a Polartec jacket. It's a discontinued Louis Garneau one in fashion-yellow so not for this thread, but polartec is really great for winter riding. Really warm and doesn't get sweaty and reasonably waterproof. I've done my 10 minute commute home in torrential rain and it didn't let any water through. I wear mine in similar temp ranges and add/remove layers underneath as needed.

I've not got a jacket but the bibs and jersey I've got are good - no frills (e.g. no zip up valuables pocket for jersey) but nice material and wearing well after a year or two.

These popped up on my browser:

I quite like them.

Any stylish neck warmer/gaiter/tubes about? Assuming they can be stylish.

I still get a lot of use out of my merino rapha one. Not sure if there's a better option but some buffs are quite 'trendy'. Accessorise a fully black winter get up with a tie dye buff - reckon it'd be a good look.

I concur. Rapha merino works better than all others I've tried. Decathlon had some quite funky ones but thin material, probably OK for milder days.

I've also used buffs but ended up cutting them in half because they're way too long. The winter collar things are great as they're a bit baggy at the bottom so cover the top of your chest if you open your jacket a bit. Not sure if they do them anymore but they'll be on eBay/archive https://www.rapha.cc/gb/en/shop/winter-collar/product/WCL03XX
Who has produced a non black version previously?
