  • Pagination is unique to individual users! Particularly if you have some of the tiresome bores of our great parish on ignore!

Tbh, Seabass replaced the headset bearings and a brake cable for me.

  • "but pastry_bot has access to good mechanics" - is that better?

  • Do you think this would work with a Pompino?

    https://omniumcargo.dk/shop/product/cxc-tight-clearance-fork/

  • That’s a fair bit shorter than the pomp is designed to use. No doubt you won’t die in a ball of fire but why not just get a non-tight clearance fork?

  • Ahhh thanks man! But indeed, post proved a difficulty for pasty and I am now set for a city bruiser (all city dropout with soon to be added 395mm ac disc fork) and a hydro disc fixed 135mm octane one! Pomp's are still nice though!

  • A good 40mm shorter than the standard pomp a-c, which is definitely enough to notice a difference in handling. Personally I'd steer(lol) clear but people have done crazier shit and lived to tell the tale

  • Omnium must be measuring to the inside of the crown. Add ~2cm (so ~370mm a-to-c).

  • Picked up a V1 Pompino last month and currently changing a few bits on it, thinking of putting a spare set of Rocket Runs on it (35c) but not sure they'll fit, anyone here fitted a pair to a Pompino or anything bigger? Currently have 28c GP4000's on it and they already look a squeeze.

If they won't fit what's a decent CX / Gravel type tyre that will fit that doesn't break the bank?

  • 33mm works on mine with room but it's a V3

  • Schwalbe CX Pro is one of the smallest cx tires you can get, and they’re cheap. If you want something more slick any touring tire will be fine.

  • Much appreciated, small and cheap is just how I like it. Haha

Didn't realise either but it's actually been two months since I've had it. Really do need to sort it out and get riding it.

Bought it with a flat bar, v-brake, slick tyre setup but changing it over to flared drops, cx tyres and canti's.

  • Sounds good... maybe except for the canti part ;)
Since you’ll run smaller tires, have you considered mini-v’s

  • There's a good priced XL Pompino on Gumtree in Scotland at the moment. Seller said he'd be happy to post.

  • I'm running a pair of 35mm g-ones plus guards on my V1 with room for more

  • Pompino "on the steel list" for 2020 if Planet X's Facebook page is anything to go by.

(Under the comments for their aluminium lineup.)

    Huge if true.

Edit: apparently they announced this six months ago, so it's only news to me

  • Having crank clearance issues with what I believe to be a V1 Pompino.

Have tried Dura Ace Fc7710 with a 109.5 Octalink BB and Omniums: the DA strike the stays at the end of the cranks and the Omniums strike at the spider.

Is anyone currently running either of these setups? Should I try a longer BB on the DA’s which would be a 118 axel?

  • V1

Is it the 130/135mm spaced version?

  • Hmm, it’s spaced at 120. Unless it’s been respaced by a previous owner?

Perhaps it’s not a V1, it has the rear canti hanger and wishbone.

  • That's V3 I think?

  • I also think it's a V3.

  • V3 it is then!

  • Not sure why you’re having issues then. Pretty sure I’ve ran Omnomnoms on mine which looks pretty similar vintage.

  • My V3 needed the chainstay crimping to allow proper clearance for the omniums' spider.

  • selling/possibly splitting my Pomp... partner moaning about large numbers of bikes in the house equations being what they are and I don't really do pub bikes I realise.

V4 raw frame, 54 cm size. Bad bits: got expected patina from frame finish, one barely visible dent on top tube and needs rear canti brake pads replaced. Good bits: lots of almost new good quality parts

Lots of upgrades from stock all in excellent condition: straight steel disc fork with Hy/rd hydro calliper, SRAM/Pacenenti disc wheel, tektro drop and cross top levers, Stronglight cranks (almost new), Mavic ma3 fixed/free rear wheel (almost new) SRAM single speed chain and freewheel and chunky Vittoria revolution tyres all in sub 200miles of use condition.. have original fork too if wanted and a spare set of SKS silver Mudguards that would fit it.

Saddle will be swapped out for a Selle Turbo, currently has random old spd pedals on it sold as is. looking for about 300 bob complete.
