This isn’t meant as confrontational but is there any evidence of this seems all very speculative.
In all the comments I’ve seen I’ve not seen anything supporting it. -

This could be quite possible.
At the moment it just seems like a growing urban myth... -

There's going to be little solid evidence of it as elections are so few and far between and very rarely occur outside term time.
The last 10, stretching back to 1979 have all been in April, May or June. Before that it was October 1974 and that would have been in term time.
The last one that was in December was in 1923.
(Which is meaningless given the voting age was only lowered from 21 to 18 in 1969.)

Old folk die after Christmas, because their grand children are vectors for disease.
Nature is so beautiful

It's a win win, little critters get an xmas present followed by inheritance

Students are much less likely to vote when at home too.
Why ?

I'd be curious to see the evidence, but my guess would be that they're away from the pier group likely to motivate them to the ballot booth.
Although my mum has always nagged me about voting on vote day, and has never once said, "one more game of Pro Evo"? or "shall we roll another one"?
(of course I'm well aware uni is different now and students no longer have time for frivolity)

Why ?
curiousWell partly because the Higher Education and Research Act 2017 placed a statutory requirement on universities to facilitate student voter registration...

The 12th is a terrible day for an election, it's peak Christmas party season.

Which surely should result in higher turnout of young people ?
Few have jobs, those that do are all 0hrs - so no poorly cooked turkey for them, and anyway don't young people only interact via their phones anyway?
-
• #25063
Hmmmm
Are there any young people on here we could ask ? -

I wouldn't rush into that one, there's plenty of frivolous behaviour around still

May or June
I wonder how election during exam/post-exam period affects student voting... June is not standard "term time"

Reminds me of the HIGNFY episode when the replaced Roy Hattersley with a tub of lard.

I was wondering this about January. I'd say chances are slimmer during exam time, it's horribly intense
I didn't know that!
perhaps the problem is more that once the young people get distributed back into the wider world labour end up loss places like Portsmouth south and Canterbury back to the Tories.
