Hmm, I don't think I have 28mm Tesa tape, I think mine is only 19mm, so likely no retaping just yet.

Thinner tape should be fine just overlap it. What you might have done speaking from experience is at some point knocked the valve which is effectively glued to the rim and broken the seal, so it might just be case of sloshing enough sealant on there to get it stuck back.
