It's a fair point, I'm also currently using a Rapha Pro Team jacket, with a good base layer and gilet over the top it's good enough for -5C in the park but it's now 5 years old and hardly wind proof anymore.
Recently picked up the endura primaloft gilet and it's ace so it got me thinking about something insulated. Fancied this as something a bit more casual looking and useful if I pull my finger out and go bikepacking somewhere cold like Iceland. For £135 I expect some useful pockets though.
A decent windproof jacket + shakedry is probably a more versatile combo.
I have seldom need more than my Rapha Pro Team jacket with a merino ls base. I once layered it with a long sleeve jersey underneath during a festive ride in below zero freezing temps and was toasty warm.
