  • Sad day for UK manufacturing...and brexit hasn't even happened yet.

  • Neither have anything to do with that, neither are making excuses under the flag of politics. Both are because they are taking time for themselves, and because they were actually too busy to have a life. Sad all the same, I applaud them for making the decision to do what is best for them personally.

  • No, think wildwest knows that, just a chance to blame brexit should never be missed!
Tis sad news though, but best of luck in future endeavours to Jon and Jordan, had bags off both of em.

  • It's was just bants...Sad to see them go fantastic products.
Regret selling my mini messenger now.
    BRP fill the gap please.

  • Anyone know where to get a large backpack style bag?? i'm back to work next week and now that i have plates on both collarbones want to spread the load instead of swapping straps on my BRP every few days

  • Pat (pac designs) has got sewing in the lockdown and is even advertising.
Perhaps even a website in the future.
Prices not to bad given the pedigree.

  • Big old dredge! Has anyone used a Chrome Kadet or Kadet Mini? I'm after something I can chuck a phone/some glasses, a few small tools and some snacks in for work. Looking at either something like that or a larger hip pack like the newish Rapha one. Any suggestions for anything else that fits the bill also welcome!

  • A mussette?
I like the look of the Restrap and Apidura

  • Tanowrks on Instagram make decent ones by all accounts and in London too.

  • They look decent. @ltc their essentials pouch might be what you are after

  • It's for all day use so probably after something a bit more substantial and comfortable than a musette I think! The Tanowrks essentials pouch looks great but might be a bit on the small side I think.

  • Just looking at the chrome citizen bag, looks great, but the one I'd get is £189 vs 160 USD in the US. Which at current fx is $99 more expensive (60% - mad) which makes me think that's not good value.

Given not many updates on this thread for a while, any strong current alternatives or thoughts?

  • On top of that I'd prob be hit with cutsoms too right?

  • A bagaboo hip pouch is what I use for work. I would recommend the large. You can also ask them to add a u-lock holder to it.

  • I used a citizen for work for a while, it was great, really well made and thought out but absolutely massive. I found it a lot less useful than a backpack for anything other than multi drop courier work when you have to access it frequently because when it's full it's extremely heavy and the single strap can dig in to you a fair bit. I think I sold mine for about £50 so might be worth keeping an eye out for a secondhand one!

  • That might be a good call actually! It's sort of hard to tell from the site, is the large a decent size?

  • okay cheers, i feared that may be the case, but it doesn't look like you get that much in the mini version...

I've got an ortlieb (velocity?) backpack which I've had for prob 10 years which has been amazing but is dying. The right thing to do is just get another, but fancied a change, and some compartments.

  • I've for a Restrap commuter backpack that I rate for daily use on and off the bike! It's a roll top so can expand to be absolutely massive when you need it to be but folds down to regular backpack size for normal use. It's got a couple of pockets and a built in padded laptop sleeve in the main compartment. Free repairs for life as well.

  • Yeah the large is a good size. It will fit a 15mm spanner, battery pack, mask etc. Has a pocket on the outside and also another smaller inside.

There is also small bagaboo messenger bag in the classifieds…

  • I know it's really stupid because that's what I probably should get but I just don't like the looks of the Bagaboo bags for some reason! I might just end up getting the Chrome even though it's probably worse because I'm an idiot.
