For polishing / buffing yes, not really sharpening. Gave my Leatherman Micra a nice polished blade and a much better edge than factory.

This place is very cheap for your compounds/mops for shining stuff up, then you can use the compounds on your MDF wheel for sharpening. Remember to turn your grinder the opposite way, so it spins away from you, as if you catch the edge, you have a multi-miles per hour pointy projectile aiming in the general area of your bollocks/minge.
