Seat Altea Fr?
Loads of dog room, fit a towbar for the bikes and has plenty of poke
They’re not that common and petrol one’s even less so.
Found just one on eBay

Sorry to hear (about the Fozzy).
Before I got a Legacy myself I always thought a Forrester was a great option (strong, spacious, understated, etc.).
A Legacy wagon is another great option, imo. Only issue is they're all getting on a bit now. But there are some bargains out there to be had.
Have you outgrown your Clio or something happened to it?
For reasons I won't go into, the purchase of a freshly imported forester sti i posted a few pages back has fallen through. It's no bad thing though as it's made me reconsider whether any car is worth having a bank loan for (it isn't), so I'm back searching for a car with a tighter budget of between 4 and 5k.
Requirements:
Petrol
Manual
Space for a greyhound in the boot and bikes on roof or towbar (preferably estate)
Engine size no greater than 2.5l (pre-08) or emissions under 225 g/km (08 on)
Understated
I looked at hatches like focus st and mazda 3 mps and the wife has no'd them as they look like "boy racer cars", which is funny as the forester sti was much more lairy.
Any outside the box suggestions?
