  • You think a quantum computer can hack a physical device? What, it's going to become self aware, build a robot and the robot is going to find the guy with his finger on the button and remove from them or force them to turn the keys?

  • One of my log-ins delays the next attempt by an increasing amount every time you get something wrong (2s, 4s, 8s, 16s etc.). Unless a quantum computer is using a process that bypasses that (which it might, IANA programmer), I can't see how you'd brute force it with any speed.

  • Entirely possible, and I have seen demonstrated with bit based computers on commercial firewalls. Not usually a practical attack vector, but possible.

    Anyway, is there a better thread for this?

  • Yeah, there are lots of options but us humans still struggle with implement normal encryption so adding another layer of complexity is well good luck banks :)
    They are aware of the issue though so it's not going to come as a surprise.
